Hannah Moog is an artist and illustrator based in Philadelphia, PA. She makes hand printed books with imaginative structures and playful moving parts, utilizing volvelles, cutouts, and fold outs. Her books act as stages, pulling viewers into her world of illustrated characters. Through the moving elements, she create a sense of magic and exploration based on things she notices in the world: meditative moments in nature, humorous moments in relationships, the magic of these connective moments and the power of recognising them.
Hannah graduated with a BFA in General Fine Arts and a minor in Book Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art 2021. She has been an intern at the Women’s Studio Workshop, an apprentice at Bread and Puppet Press and at the Fabric Workshop and Museum. She has participated in residencies at Penland School of Craft, the Wassaic Project, and Arrowmont School of Craft. And has taught workshops at the Women Studio Workshop in Rosendale NY, and in Philadelphia at Second State Press, The Arts League and The Free Library of Philadelphia.
Her artist books can be seen in special collections around the United States, including but not limited to the Herron Art Library, Indiana University-Indianapolis, Swarthmore College Libraries, Special Collections, Stanford University, Bowes Art & Architecture Library, RISD Fleet Library, Special Collections, and The Free Library of Philadelphia, Print and Picture Collection.
